Managing PartnerJeff Baryshnik HBA MBA CIM FCSI is the President of Republic Funds Inc., which he founded in 2009. He has participated in more than $15 billion of acquisitions, and has been investing since 1992. At Republic Funds, Jeff Baryshnik has led 100+ separate real estate transactions in the multifamily, single-family rental, industrial, and office sectors. Prior to forming Republic Funds in 2009, Mr Baryshnik held roles of increasing responsibility at leading global investment funds including Citadel LLC and Morgan Stanley.
At Citadel, Jeff Baryshnik invested in global securities and initiated its Canadian value investment and special-situations portfolio, which grew to more than $800 million. Mr Baryshnik led global investments across a range of industries including real estate and infrastructure. He began his career in Morgan Stanley's Mergers & Acquisitions Group at which he was a member of the Analyst Council. Jeff Baryshnik is the author of an investment book that was published in 1999 and 2001 by Random House, and he placed first in the national TD Waterhouse Investment Challenge in 1996 and 1997. A value investor with an appreciation for financial history, Mr Baryshnik in a 1997 newspaper article compared the five-year stock market outlook to that of the Tulip Bubble's apex, and wrote in a Q1 2008 NYU Economics report that the stock market decline was in its infancy. Board Involvement Outside of managing Republic Funds, Jeff Baryshnik was the Chairman of a UK property services company, a Trustee on the board of a commercial REIT, Chairman of the Renters Aid Society, and is a director on various corporate boards. Mr Baryshnik also was a Director on the Huron College Alumni Board at Western University and is a past member of the Mount Sinai Hospital (Toronto) Board of Governors. He is a past co-chair of the Toronto UJA Young Bay Street division. Education Jeff Baryshnik received an MBA (Stern Scholar) from New York University’s Stern School of Business and an HBA (Ivey Scholar) from the Ivey School of Business at Western University; he is a recipient of the Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation National Loran Award. Mr Baryshnik lives in Toronto with his wife and three boys. |
